EXCELLENT Based on 103 reviews Posted on Christina ScavuzzoTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Thank you ocean forest ecolodge for providing beautiful accommodations, breakfast/lunch/dinner service and good vibes for my partner and I on our trip to the Drake Bay area! This is our second trip to Costa Rica and we are very glad we spent 9 entire days here. We came at the end of the rainy season (November 15) and we had just a little bit of rain sporadically but much sunshine as well. I am very grateful for our hosts, gardeners, room keepers, and chefs. We will definitely try and recreate the Tico-style dishes when we go back home to Canada. You truly do not have to leave the property at all because the wild life comes to you at Ocean Forest Ecolodge (monkeys, birds). However, San Josecito did become a favourite chill spot most days (15 minute walk northwards from the lodge). Selfishly, we hope this area stays quiet as it is currently a hidden gem. We will be back in the future with our families and can’t wait to see how things may change! Pura vida ❤️ Ps don’t forget to check out the local lodges around this Ecolodge to support the turtle conservation!Posted on Natalie DörschnerTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We elected to take the boat from Sierpe as it is considered the rainy season. The boat ride from Dode Jorge was easy to board and cost $30/person/ each way. We paid for parking in Sirepe for $6 / day. Our rental car was kept safe and secure. The landing at San Josecito Beach is wet to your waist, but the crew ensured our bags stayed dry. Once on the beach Jonathan and crew were there to meet us and help us with our bags. On the walk back to the lodge we saw scarlet macaws, toucans, capuchin monkeys, and basilisk lizards. All this in a 15 min walk! Jonathan stopped and told us about the trees and even shared edible fruits with my kids, which they loved and went back to vist several times through out our stay. Once at the lodge we were shown to our rooms the Solo Bueno Suz and Solo Bueno Norte. These rooms share a wall, but each have their own bathrooms which was great for a family of 5. The bungalows have fans, hot running water, electric plugs and access to WiFi, but are still rustic. You do need to use the provided mosquito nets at night! The best part is the view from the decks. You can sit and watch toucans, macaw, capuchins, crested guans, humming birds and butterflies all while relaxing in your personal hammock. Nature surrounds you and if your lucky enough to watch a lightning storm from your room at night the show is amazing! If you decide to buy lunch and dinner, the meals you get are fresh, healthy and a testament to real Costa Rican cuisine. There are not really any other easy options so I would plan on eating all your meals at the lodge. If you have picky eaters beans and rice are always an option which worked well for my kids. Our family went on two tours that Ocean Forest booked for us. We went to the sirena station and horseback riding into the forest and to a water fall. We saw a sleeping tapir and had a great guide, but other than the tapir I think we saw more animals at the lodgem. The horse back ride was an unexpected highlight for our family. The views are breath taking and the waterfall swim was so refreshing. I would recommend both tours, but our best time was spent exploring the grounds and on the beach. We swam, listed to the whales, body surfed the waves, watched the sun set, searched for sea turtles and played in the bioluminescent water at night. Overall, Jonathan and his team provided our family with a real Costa Rican vacation. One where you can emerse yourself in the plant and wildlife around you and learn to enjoy all nature has to offer. This is not a tourist trap, instead you are an honored guest in the family and serenity Ocean Forest Eco Lodge has created.Posted on David SantanderTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Monkeys, and Macaws and Toucans and Excellent food in a utopia botanical garden with Classic Costa Rican hospitality. The staff are amazing the food is absolutely fantastic :) I saw ton's of monkeys and drank fresh coconut water and enjoyed the EPIC sunsets. The lodge is a bit remote but if you're ok with rustic accommodations and a bit of a hike, it's a dream come true. It's the perfect balance of "off the beaten path" and modern accommodations. AND THE FOOD! It's so lovely. And there's lots of hiking and snorkeling nearby!Posted on Angiely LitanoTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Our stay was absolutely wonderful. The hotel is in a remote location, which makes it the perfect place to disconnect from the world and reconnect with nature. Our room had a stunning ocean view, and we fell asleep to the soothing sound of the waves. Waking up surrounded by monkeys and birdsong felt like a dream. The traditional gallo pinto breakfast was the best we had in Costa Rica. The tour to Corcovado National Park is a must-do, and we also went snorkeling at Caño Island—an unforgettable experience. You can swim at the beach in front of the hotel during low tide, and the sunsets are simply breathtaking. Dinner was delicious every night. If we were treated like this all the time, we’d move in permanently. The staff is incredibly warm and welcoming, like a big family. It’s the perfect place to experience Costa Rica’s “Pura Vida” spirit. We 100% recommend it!Posted on Poppy StokesTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. A real adventure in Costa Rica. At first we found the prospect of getting to the ecolodge a bit daunting but it was definitely worth the extra effort (the property, the nature, the staff and food made it all worth it) and the boat trip there was all part of the fun. If you want a remote destination away from it all this is perfect for a 4 day trip!Posted on Alejandro CuervoTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google.
