Nature at your door, six kilometers from Corcovado
We are six kilometers from Corcovado National Park, home to nearly 3 of every 100 species on Earth. That forest does not stop at the park line. It reaches our garden, our balconies and the beach in front of your room.
Worth the trip
There is no road to Ocean Forest. You walk 15 minutes along the beach when you arrive, and again when you leave. In between, there is nowhere you have to go. No city, no traffic, limited Wi-Fi. You fall asleep to the sound of the sea and wake up to it.
Wildlife from your balcony
You don't need a tour to see wildlife here. Stay on your balcony or take a slow walk in the garden and watch for toucans, hummingbirds, caracaras and scarlet macaws. Spider monkeys and white-faced capuchins pass through the trees around the lodge. Howler monkeys you will hear long before you see them.
A tiger heron fishes in the estuary at the entrance, and a family of golden-naped woodpeckers lives in the palm that greets every guest. At night, tapirs often walk the grounds, and now and then we find puma tracks.
A garden that keeps you cool
Look up at the cannonball tree and the cinnamon tree. Tall bamboos shade the rooms and keep them fresh through the afternoon.
A beach almost to yourself
Our beach is long, open and nearly empty, shared only by our guests and a few neighbors. With no rocks in the water, it is the best place around to swim: wait for low tide and the sea in front of your room is yours. At its southern end, Playa Rincón, the sand gives way to rocks and a coastal walk toward Corcovado.
One kilometer north is San Josecito, where every boat drops off and picks up. A small island shelters its coral, so the water stays calm like a pool, perfect for snorkeling. Tour boats arrive in the morning; by the afternoon, it is quiet again.
Then comes the sunset, and every one is different.
If you want to explore
Corcovado, Caño Island, whales and dolphins, the Sierpe mangroves and the Río Claro pools are all close. Book tours in advance through your check-in form. Or don't book anything at all.
